Life Saving Training Programme at Railway Hospital – Madurai. The fight against heart disease not only depends on vital research but also on community education and prevention programs. The ‘Active Heart Foundation’ planning to lead battle to save lives and improve heart health of all Indians. Most of the times it does not produce uncomfortable symptoms and are hence neglected by most of us. The first three hours after the onset of heart attack is called the ‘golden hour’. Appropriate action within first 60 minutes of a heart attack can reverse its effects. When it’s a matter of life and death, every second matters. But it is the time in hand that helps a person to decide what needs to be done next.
To put their mission into action, ‘Active Heart Foundation’ has planned
To donate AED facility to the General Public of Madurai and
To impart training to laymen such as auto drivers to
Recognize the symptoms
Perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) using mannequins
To use AED (Automated External Defibrillator) facility and
Call for the ambulance
These will enable them to save many lives.
The following training programmes were imparted:
Imparting ACLS/CPR/AED training to Personnel at Railway Hospital, Madurai
Objective: Giving training about ACLS/CPR/AED to Personnel at Railway Hospital, Madurai Railway junction to assist the general Public at the time of need.
Time: 10am to 12 noon

No. of Attendees: 39 Railway staff including Doctors, Nurses, Health Workers and Admin staffs
Event Highlights: The AED facility was demonstrated by Dr. B. Selvakumar to all personnel belonging to railway hospital. They were given hands on training and they were confident to assist people at time of need using the AED facility. They were also given brochures containing the details and procedures.
